Advisory conversation

What this is

Sparring without the sales pitch.

CTOs and CIOs are surrounded by people with something to sell. Vendors with quotas, agencies with bench, internal teams with their own preferences. The one thing rarely on the table: a senior peer with no incentive other than your outcome. A Trusted Tech Advisor engagement gives you that, monthly. Architecture reviews, vendor evaluations, board-paper sparring, hiring panels, second opinions on big decisions — picked up when you need them, dropped when you don't. No pitch deck, no upsell, no lock-in. The relationship lives or dies by whether you reach for the phone when something hard lands on your desk.

How a retainer runs.

Light-touch by design. Heavy-lift when you need it.

01

Onboarding

Two sessions to understand the business, the technology landscape, and the decisions on your near horizon. From there we're context-aware.

02

Monthly cadence

A regular working session — usually ninety minutes — focused on whatever's most live. Plus on-demand availability between sessions.

03

Working sessions

Architecture review, vendor pitch debrief, board-paper drafting, hiring panel, technical due diligence — whatever the month brings.

04

Renewal

Quarterly check-in on whether the engagement is earning its retainer. We'll tell you to drop it if it isn't.

Senior peer

Same person, same context, every time

Common questions.

CTOs, CIOs, founders carrying technology, COOs without a CTO. Mid-market through enterprise. The common thread is wanting an external senior peer with no agenda.

Typically ten to fifteen hours a month with a monthly working session as the anchor. We size the retainer to your needs — and we'll right-size it down if you're not using it.

Sometimes — if it's the right shape for both sides. The default is technical advisor without a board seat, which keeps the relationship light and useful.

We can take on delivery — see our other services. The retainer doesn't bias us toward making more work; we'll often refer it elsewhere if that fits better.
